Service Update for Riders: Effective Immediately – Changes to Pick-Up Locations Near McGovern

To improve safety and keep buses moving smoothly around the McGovern Transportation Center, we are adjusting several outbound pick-up locations. Please review the updates below:
*Merrimack St: Routes 3, 4, 6 & 11 - The first outbound pick-up stop will now be after Temple St.
*Merrimack St: Routes 1, 2, 7 & 24 - The first outbound pick-up stop will now be at the New Balance parking lot (Old Train Station).
*South Union St: Routes 0, 5, 10 & 12 - The first outbound pick-up stop will now be at Island St.
*South Union St: Route 9 - The first outbound pick-up stop will now be at Market St.

• Serves more of Lawrence, with faster connection between Lawrence General Hospital and Holy Family Hospital – Methuen
• More coverage to businesses and neighborhoods on Lawrence Street
• To improve efficiency, it will no longer serve Maple Street, White Street and Hampshire Street
On Park Street? More Flexibility + More Options. Depending on where you are, you can now catch: Route 6, 12 or 10

Starting September 7 – OTHER ROUTE IMPROVEMENTS
Route 3 - NORTH ANDOVER/WOODRIDGE (Click here for schedule)
Will now make a quick deviation to Andover Street and Mass Avenue on the 2:30 PM and 3:00 PM trips.

Route 13 - STATELINE PLAZA/PLAISTOW (Click here for schedule)
The Stateline Plaza timepoint is shifting by 5 minutes to improve connection with other routes at the Haverhill Transit.

Route 15 - WESTGATE PLAZA VIA HILLDALE (Click here for schedule)
Will now include a 6-minute layover at Haverhill High School from 2:09 PM to 2:15 PM to better align with school dismissal times.

Route 17 - SALISBURY BEACH VIA AMESBURY
Will now use Elliot Street and School/Middle/Locust Streets on the Inbound trips to improve route efficiency.

Effective During Severe Winter Weather
Applies Until Roads Are Safe for Normal Service
During heavy snow or unsafe road conditions, some routes may temporarily avoid hills, narrow streets, or difficult areas. When this happens, buses will follow the detours listed below. Please allow extra travel time.

ROUTE-BY-ROUTE DETOURS

Route 3
* Outbound: Bus travels on Route 114 to North Andover Mall.
No service to: YMCA, Doctors Park, Woodridge Housing.
* Inbound: Returns via Route 114 to Peter’s St.
No service to: Woodridge Housing, Doctors Park, YMCA.

Route 4
* Outbound: From Commonwealth Ave → Ferry St.
No service to: East Haverhill St, Howard St, Allston St.
* Inbound: From Ferry St → Commonwealth Ave.
Same stops bypassed.
**Alternate Detour (if Ferry St is unsafe)**
Buses will use Merrimack St and Marston St instead of Ferry St.

Route 5
* Outbound Only:
Bus turns around at the Dana Farber cul-de-sac.
No service up the hill.

Route 6
* Outbound Only:
Bus enters the rear ER entrance at Merrimack Health Methuen (formerly Holy Family).
If Merrimack Health Lawrence is unsafe, bus will serve the hospital from General St at the bottom of the driveway.

Route 7
* Outbound: Beacon St → Glenn St → Andover St.
* Inbound: Andover St → Glenn St → Beacon St.

Route 13
* Outbound & Inbound:
Bus uses North Ave.
No service to Marsh Ave.

Route 15
* Outbound:
No service to Welcome St
Travels via Winter St
From Route 97: Rockland St → Lowell St
* Inbound:
Westgate: Lowell Ave → Rockland St → Broadway
Winter St inbound: No service to Welcome St → Emerson St.

Route 16
* Outbound:
Washington Sq → River St → Lowell Ave → Westgate Plaza.
* Inbound:
Westgate: Lowell Ave → Rockland St → Broadway
Then to Haverhill Commons Plaza (Target).
Carleton St inbound: Lowell Ave → River St → Haverhill Transit Center.

Route 17
* Outbound & Inbound:
No service to Locust St, Middle St (Merri Village), or School St.
NECC bypassed if campus is closed or conditions unsafe.

Route 18
* Outbound & Inbound:
Bus uses Katsaras Dr.
No service to Kennedy Circle.
At Groveland Housing, buses circle in front of the building (before the entrance) if needed.

Route 19
* Outbound & Inbound:
No service to Anna Jaques Hospital.
Bus uses Toppan’s Lane.

Route 21
* Outbound & Inbound:
No service to Frye Circle, Doctors Park, Central St, School St, or Railroad St.
Bus uses Main St (Route 28) → North Main St.

Route 27
* Outbound Only: Beacon St → Amherst St.

SNOW DETOUR

  • Outbound: From Hampshire Street, R-Arlington Street, L-Lawrence Street. Resume REGULAR ROUTING. At Holy Family Hospital, bear left after and then turn slight right (opposite the Employee Parking Lot) turning into Holy Family Hospital rear EMERGENCY ROOM entrance to service the Hospital. In the event that Arlington Street is unsafe for travel: Utilize Park Street to Lawrence Street and resume REGULAR ROUTING.
  • Route 6 Inbound: L- to exit the Holy Family Hospital at East Street and resume REGULAR ROUTING. In the event that Arlington Street is unsafe for travel: Utilize Lawrence Street to Park Street and resume REGULAR ROUTING.
